Say you have to leave in one hour and you’re worried you will get caught up with work and you will forget to do so. Thanks to Windows Shutdown Assistant, you can set it so a message will be displayed in one hour. This and other actions can be scheduled with the application: log off, shut down, restart hibernate, lock, run files or programs, display messages, run screensavers.

A setup wizard will guide you through the installation process. When it is done, it will ask to launch Windows Shutdown Assistant and it will invite you to check a “How to use Windows Shutdown Assistant” webpage. This webpage nicely presents the interface and the functionality that can be accessed from the interface.

There is nothing complicated about the interface, mind you. Everything is nicely laid out on the interface. You will very quickly figure things out.

As mentioned above, several types of actions can be scheduled with Windows Shutdown Assistant. To schedule an action you must go through the following steps:
Step 1 – specify when the task will run (in X minutes from now, at a certain time and date, everyday at a certain time and date, repeat task every X minutes).
Step 2 – pick an action (log off, shut down, restart hibernate, lock, run a file or program, display a message, run a screensaver).
Step 3 – add to action list and click the Start button.

Windows Shutdown Assistant can also be used to take and manage notes.

Windows Shutdown Assistant is not free, it is only free to try. A prompt will show up every time you launch the trial version and will remind you about this fact.

Windows Shutdown Assistant allows you to easily schedule various actions: shut down, run a screensaver, show messages, and more. It also allows you to easily take notes.

Pros

You are invited to view a “how to use” webpage once the installation process completes. The interface is very simple. Several actions can be scheduled: log off, shut down, restart hibernate, lock, run files or programs, display messages, run screensavers. You can take and manage notes; the notes can be customized.

Cons

Trial limitations: nag screen, free to use for a limited period of time.
